When I heard that the local newspaper would use one or both of my photos in today's edition, plus quotes from my report on our flash floods, I lightly reminded them of the half-dozen pics they've used before, and asked for a free subscription. I got it! |

We had an intense thunderstorm today, complete with half-inch hail for a while, and then it moved off to the east-- upstream in our watershed. This is the result, an hour after the rain stopped: water as high as I've ever seen it in the smaller streams in town.

Our favorite museum, the Shelburne Museum, opened yesterday. It's a big place, with about 20 buildings. One of the traveling exhibits this year is on Robots and Steampunk; and though it's not open yet, the theme garden outside the gallery is partly complete. Meet Mama Robot!

I've been working on another of amaebi's texts; the tune ended up very complicated rhythmically, so I've been trying to tame it for weeks. Today I got it very close to done, I think.
When I put it away, my eye was caught by a public domain text I've had waiting in my notebook for a while.
Fifteen minutes later, I finished a cute short tune for the verse and a yet-to-be-written chorus. Hope I like it when I go back to it! |

I'm having a moment of local fame-- this is a cattle egret. They are relatively rare, and seldom seen in this area except in one spot, so imagine my delight at seeing one 20 miles from that spot!

I climbed down a rock ledge to sit by Kingsland Bay for a while-- but I found my pics when I turned around to face the ledge. Incredible sight of tree roots forcing their way through rock
